(PRWEB) September 23, 2004
The National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), in conjunction with the Secretary of Defense, honored Bank One as a 2004 Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award recipient on September 21, 2004 in Washington, DC.
Bank One, now merged with J. P. Morgan Chase & Co., supports its Guard and Reserve mobilized members with pay differential, continued health and insurance benefits, care packages to deployed members, and family support. The support provided by the company helps assure the quality of life for both the military member and family. Bank One values the leadership and Âglobal experiences that Guard and Reserve members bring to the corporation.
ÂWe salute our employees who sacrifice so much for their countryÂ, said Jamie Dimon, the Bank One Chief Executive Officer who is now President of JPMorgan Chase. ÂIt is clearly appropriate to provide theses benefits to the men and women who put themselves in harmÂs way, separated from their families for months at a time.Â
The Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award, a Waterford crystal eagle, was introduced in 1996 to publicly recognize the significant contributions and sacrifices made by AmericaÂs employers of Guardsmen and Reservists.
ÂBank OneÂs exceptional support of their Reserve and National Guard employees during mobilization for the war against terrorism has set a standard for all employers to followÂ, said David Janes, ESGR National Chairman. ÂBank OneÂs advocacy of extending continuing benefits, making up pay differentials, and ensuring employees are returned to their jobs in a timely manner is truly a role model for corporate America. I am proud to have participated in the selection of Bank One for this prestigious awardÂ, added Janes.
Bank One merged with JPMorgan Chase & Co. on July 1, 2004. The combined
Company, JPMorgan Chase, is a strong supporter of its Guard and Reserve employees.
